Home Whitening – As the preferred method for many of our patients, custom-made trays are worn one to two hours per night for about a week. A major advantage of using custom trays to whiten teeth is that they allow the bleaching solution to be in close contact with the teeth, which ultimately maximizes whitening and protects the gums.
Philips Zoom Whitening – As a newer method, Philips Zoom Blue LED light-accelerated technology and gel is combined with Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP) to help improve luster, reduce sensitivity, and deliver enamel protection. The Philips Zoom whitening process is clinically proven to whiten up to 8 shades in only 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Note: Although whitening does remove stains from your enamel, it does not change the enamel itself. If your enamel does not whiten to your expectations, there are other procedures available that will enable you to reach your smile-restoration goals– including crowns, veneers, and dental bondings. Can I Use Over-the-Counter Options?
Over-the-counter (OTC) teeth-whitening products are available as pastes, gels, mouth rinses, and strips, and many people in Orange County have tried them to achieve whiter brighter smiles.
In most instances, OTC teeth-whitening products don’t work as well as the ones a licensed dentist like Dr. Green offers because they don’t contain the same formulation of ingredients. When not used properly, OTC whitening products can also cause significant– and even permanent– damage to your teeth.
